David Roberts (1796 - 1864) was a Scottish painter. Fascinated with the holy land and the Middle East, he was dubbed as a prominent Oriental painter. His most notorious works include ‘The Holy Land, Syria, Idumea, Arabia, Egypt, and Nubia’. He was based in London, but traveled to Spain and the Levant to exhibit his work, as well as to draw inspiration.
